NICOLAS LAZO
“STILL, HERE.”
my book "still, here" is an examination. not a return, but an honest look at what's lingered for years, brought together in two forms: photography and poetry. both in which are rooted in how i experience the world. through emotional urgency, intense feeling, and the need to hold onto every fleeting moment.
the writing comes from urgency. a need to keep track of what hurt, what stayed, what kept resurfacing, and what changed me. the photographs, in contrast, became my anchor, a way to slow down and find clarity when everything felt too fast. almost every single image were photographed on film, which demands patience and presence- two things i constantly pine for with a mind that rarely slows down.
ABOUT
Nicolas Lazo (also known as Saint Lazo) is a New Jersey-based photographer currently completing his BFA in Photography & Related Media at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. His work moves fluidly between fashion and personal storytelling, using light, texture, and emotion to build images that feel both cinematic and intimate.
Nic has collaborated with emerging boutique brands on editorial campaigns and recently worked as a video assistant for L’Officiel Philippines’ March 2025 issue. Whether in studio or on location, his editorial approach is grounded in mood, detail, and an intuitive sense of connection.
Alongside his fashion work, Nic develops personal projects that combine photography, poetry, scanned memorabilia, and written reflections. These works explore themes of longing, identity, and unresolved feelings; offering a softer, more introspective view of his practice. In 2023, a selection of this work was included in the junior photography exhibition at the Museum at FITNYC, and he will once again exhibit at the Museum in 2025 as part of the senior photography show.
