A Little Bit Closer is a group collaboration between the 44 graduating students of FIT’s Photography and Related Media department. A result of shared space and open dialogue, the exhibition evidences our explorations into time, identity, and the many interpretations of our realities. As photographers and lens-based artists, we develop our practice in order to gain a more intimate understanding of our artistic voice. We reflect on our lived experiences and personal histories in engaging with archival imagery, as well as explore intangible ideas through methods of manipulation and world-building. The culmination of these efforts has resulted in varied physical forms ranging from traditional prints, moving image, book-making, and multi-media installation. As we near the conclusion of our formal studies, we extend the invitation to viewers and fellow community members: join us as we come A Little Bit Closer.
