“PORTRAIT OF A FANGIRL”

Fangirls are passionate, enthusiastic and extremely dedicated consumers of popular music and its merchandise. I am photographing fangirls in their rooms. These are the spaces they have decorated, spaces where they express a large part of their inner identity. I’m interested in the way they create their space, the differences and similarities that can be identified, and, most importantly, that their fandom is taken seriously. Fangirls in their bedroom with their posters and t-shirts can be seen as merely obsessive. However, the experience is so much more than that, it is about dedication to the art of performance, music-making, and community-building.
